UEFA Champions League 2020-21: Round of 16 Predictions

Hey guys, as we all know a few weeks back the group stage for the champions league ended, and the draws for the Round of 16 were also announced.

Today I’m going to tell you all about my predictions on the Round of 16, and who’ll qualify for this season’s quarter finals.

Before I make my predictions, let’s talk a bit about the group stage results. In group A, Bayern Munich were the clear table toppers, the champions just had a draw from Atletico Madrid, and the runner ups, Atletico Madrid made their quality felt in the second match against the reigning champions, Bayern Munich. In Group B, Real Madrid had quite a difficult time in clearing the group, as they were almost on the verge of getting relegated to Europa League, however, the champions held on in the last match and finished at the top of the table, the runner ups, Borussia Monchengladbach, were the surprise runner ups, as this was their first time qualifying the group stage of UCL. In group C, Manchester City and FC Porto had little or no competition, and it proved to be a fairly easy qualification for both of them. In group D, Liverpool managed to be on top of the table despite having vital injuries, and the runner ups and the under dogs of this season, Atlanta, managed to knock out the mighty Ajax. Group E was another an easy fixture for Chelsea and Sevilla, and both of them did not have major problems making the qualification for the next round. Group F was slightly more competitive, as Borussia Dortmund managed to be on the top, and the runner ups, Lazio, knocking out Club Brugge with a very narrow margin. Group G was the favourite group of every football fan, and probably the most watched too, as it had the legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo facing each other, and both winning one match each, this group had easy qualifications for both FC Barcelona and Juventus. Group H was the most surprising of all the groups as Manchester United managed to get themselves out of the UCL, and RB Leipzig fetching the runner ups spot, and last year’s finalists Paris Saint Germain claiming the top spot.

Now coming to the predictions for the Round of 16, the first fixture is between RB Leipzig and Liverpool, is quite a competitive one, and I think that Liverpool would be able to make it to the quarter finals if they sign some players to make up for their injuries in the January transfer window. The second fixture, and probably the most difficult one of the entire Round of 16, is FC Barcelona vs Paris Saint Germain, and even though it’s very difficult to predict, I think Messi and Barcelona should be able to make it to the quarter finals, with a very narrow victory. The third fixture is between Juventus and Porto, is quite an easy fixture, and I think Juventus can easily qualify for the quarter finals. The fourth fixture is between Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund, is quite a close one, and I predict a victory for Borussia Dortmund. The fifth fixture is between the current champions Bayern Munich and Lazio, it’s probably the easiest of the whole Round of 16 fixtures, and I think Bayern can qualify with little or no difficulty. The sixth fixture is between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, is another very difficult one to predict, however I think Atletico Madrid will be able to qualify to the quarter finals with a narrow margin. The seventh fixture is between Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach, is quite competitive, however, I think Manchester City can make the qualification. The last but not the least, is the fixture between Real Madrid vs Atlanta, is another close one, considering Atlanta being the under dogs for the season, I think Real Madrid can make the qualification, unless Atlanta were to surprise us all, by beating the all-time greats.

So, guys these were my predictions for the Round of 16, to be played between February and March, we’ll see after some time who qualifies for the quarter finals and then make a prediction for that. Until then, thank you very much, and stay safe.

Once again, take caution please, these are only predictions from my perspective, and should not be considered as actual results by any means for the purposes of betting. Please do your own research before placing bets, and do it at your own risk.

Thank You
