BARCELONA FACTSHEET

1.     The club represents the country of Catalonia which was captured by Spain.

2.     Club was established in 1899.

3.     The club’s main colours are blue and red.

4.     The club tried to sign alfredo di Stefano but Spanish govt took advantage of its position of authority and power to send him to real madrid.

5.     The club’s main era of dominance came when Johan Cruyff joined the club. The club won la Liga after 14 years.

6.     Johan Cruyff wasn’t just a great player, he was the foundation of Barcelona and gave the club its philosophy of playing football, i.e., tiki taka.

7.     Tiki taka implied playing through passing and extensive and smart dribbling and maintaining possession.

8.     Johan Cruyff returned as a coach to deepen the roots of tiki taka in Barcelona, and coached another great player popularly known as pep Guardiola. Barcelona won their first UCL that time.

9.     Another great time for Barcelona came when the signed Ronaldinho, he became arguably the greatest player in the history of the club and had similar dribbling abilities and adaptability to tiki taka as Johan Cruyff.

10.  Barcelona won another UCL in 2006 thanks to the likes of Ronaldinho and a young Messi. Ronaldinho became the player to win every trophy possible in the world for a player.

11.  The golden and greatest era of Barcelona came when pep Guardiola returned as a coach to Barcelona in 2009. Barcelona did a sextuple that season, becoming the first club in the history of football to do so.

12.  Barcelona went on to win another UCL in 2011 under Guardiola.

13.  Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi were the architects of this era of success at Barcelona along with Guardiola.

14.  In 2013 Barcelona made another star signing of Neymar, who went on to great success at the club.  Often referred to, as the “prince of Barcelona” or “Messi’s Heir”.

15.  In 2015 Barcelona did another treble under Enrique, and this time the architects were Lionel Messi, Suárez, and Neymar, commonly known as MSN, and regarded as the greatest trio in the world.

16.  Barcelona in 2015 earned their badge of honour, and became the only club in the world and the history of football to do a treble twice.

17.  Barcelona faced a misery against roma in 2018 UCL, and the effects of it also led to defeat at the hands of Liverpool in 2019 UCL.

18.  The club has struggled to find a good manager after Enrique, and is not making any good signings, which needs to be solved.

19.  Barcelona has the most number of trophies in the world, the most Ballon D’or collection, the world’s greatest player and arguably the greatest player ever to kick a football plays for Barcelona, known as LIONEL MESSI. Barcelona’s dominance in la Liga is unquestionable, they have won 13 seasons out of previous 15 seasons.
