UEFA Euro 2020: Group Stage Analysis (Did we predict it all!?)
Hey guys, as we all know, the group stage matches of the UEFA Euro 2020 ended last night with some breath-taking matches happening, with quite a few surprises, and quite expected results, the Euro cup is all set for knockout stages beginning with the Round of 16 ties.
Now, let’s
analyze the Group stage performances with the expectations we had. Group A was
very interesting group, with quite strong teams such as Wales and Italy present
in the group, we predicted that Italy and Wales would qualify to the Round of
16, and our prediction went right, as Italy held on to their winning run made
to the top of the group, and Wales finishing second with one win, one draw, and
one loss, and we had a surprise by Switzerland qualifying to the Round of 16 as
a part of the four best third position teams, all thanks to Shaqiri’s two goals
against Turkey which allowed them to finish with four points in the group.
Group B was a fairly matched group, and we predicted Belgium and Denmark to
qualify from this group, and again our predictions went right, and both the
teams qualified to the Round of 16, with Belgium’s golden generation emerging
at the top of the group, a shock was given to all fans when Russia ended up
being at the bottom of the group, with two losses. Group C was one of the
easiest tied groups in the whole competition, and as we had predicted
Netherlands and Austria qualify for the Round of 16, finishing first and second
respectively, and Ukraine too qualifying as a part of the four best third
position teams. Group D, was on of the most entertaining groups in the
competition, and as we had exactly predicted, England and Croatia qualify to
the Round of 16, finishing first and second, respectively in the group, and
England delivering remarkable performance without any losses, and Czech
Republic qualifying as a part of the four best third position teams. Group E
was one of the most exciting groups in the competition, as in this group our
predictions went slightly wrong, and as quite a shock came to the fans as
Poland finishing at the fourth place, with no victories at all, Spain as we
predicted qualified finishing second in the group, and a surprise to all fans
as Sweden qualified to the Round of 16, and finishing at the top of the group.
Last but certainly not the least was Group F, also called the ‘group of death’,
and the most difficult tied group in the whole competition, we all had an
amazing time watching the ties of this group, and with nail biting excitement
as Germany giving a huge scare, and qualifying in the last moments of their
match against Hungary, France and Germany both finished first and second
respectively in their groups and qualified to the Round of 16, and Portugal
qualify as a part of the four best third position teams, all thanks to
Cristiano Ronaldo’s two goals which helped Portugal to draw with France in
their last tie.
So, guys we
all can conclude that our predictions went right in 5 of the 6 groups in the
competition. Thank You all for your support, and once again these were just
predictions and should not be used in any case of betting. See you in the next
article for Round of 16 predictions.
